The challenge
Customers built reports in the product, then exported everything to a spreadsheet to do the actual analysis. The product was a data source pretending to be a workspace.
The approach
We traced what happened inside those spreadsheets. Almost every user was doing the same four operations. We brought those four into the product as first-class actions and rebuilt the table component around them.
The outcome
Exports fell as in-product analysis rose. The design system that came out of it now covers the rest of the product.
Results
- -58% CSV exports per account
- 3.4x time spent in the reporting view
- 62 components in the new design system
