Adi - User Center Designer

Designing for Humans Mohali, India — since 2004

Adi Design is a UX-led product studio. We work on the kind of products people use for hours rather than minutes — assessment platforms, clinical booking, reporting workspaces, field tools — where a small friction repeated fifty times a day becomes a real cost.

Twenty-two years in, the pattern that keeps holding is this: the expensive decisions are made before anyone opens a design tool.

Philosophy

We start with the problem, not the screen. That sounds obvious and is rarely done, because the screen is the part everyone can picture and the problem is the part nobody wants to slow down for.

So we research first. Interviews with the people who will actually use the thing, watching them work, noticing the workarounds they’ve stopped mentioning because they no longer notice them either. The workarounds are usually where the product is.

Then we design around what we found, not around the database. The result is normally fewer screens than anyone expected, a structure that survives the next three features, and a written record of why each decision was made — so the next person doesn’t quietly undo it.

We’d rather tell you something is the wrong thing to build than build it well.

What we do

Research, architecture and interface design for products that have to work on the hundredth use, not just the first.

UX UI Design

Interviews and usability testing with your real users, the information architecture underneath the screens, high-fidelity interfaces covering the error and empty states as well as the happy path, and prototypes that test a decision while it’s still cheap to reverse.

AI Applications

An AI feature is a design problem before it’s a model problem. The hard parts are showing uncertainty honestly, giving people a way to correct the output, and making it obvious when an answer shouldn’t be trusted.

Web & SaaS

Dashboards, portals and platforms judged on keyboard flow, data density and error recovery rather than on a hero image. Designed and built end to end, or designed for your own engineers to build.

Mobile Applications

One hand, poor light, interrupted halfway, on a slow connection. Designing for the real conditions rather than the simulator is most of the job.

Corporate Design

A logo that only works on a deck isn’t an identity. We design the mark at its most hostile application first and let everything larger inherit from it.

Where we work

The studio is in Sector 117, Mohali, half an hour from Chandigarh. Most of our clients are elsewhere — Australia, the US, across India — so the work runs on written findings, recorded walkthroughs and weekly reviews rather than on being in the same room.

That turns out to suit the work. A decision that has to be written down to be shared is a decision that has to be reasoned through first.
